Esky bowling goes to state

BAY CITY — The Escanaba boys’ bowling team advanced to state competition with a third-place finish at regionals here Saturday. The Eskymos finished with 3,899 points.

Josh Worthen led Esky with a 689 series and James Peacock added a 644 series.

Worthen also advanced to states in the singles’ competition, taking first place with a 1,331 score through six games.

Other top Esky finishers were Hunter Lancour (15th), Tony Liss (19th), Peacock (52nd), Joey Kositzky (60th) and Shamus Mold (68th).

The girls’ team missed the cut for states by 273 pins, finishing in seventh place. Dakota Cloutier led Esky with a 508 series and McKenzie Rickel had a 184 game.

Cloutier qualified for states with a 1,078 score to finish in seventh place. Lindsey Juhl scored 1,071 to get the last qualifying spot, finishing 10th.

Other top Esky finishers were Macy Leisenring (39th), Gabi Solo (49th), Rickel (54th) and Brooke Sliva (74th).
