Munising sweeps Rockets

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River Rockets made a comeback, but it fell short in a 3-0 (25-8, 25-22, 27-25) volleyball loss to the Munising Mustangs Tuesday night.

“We didn’t come ready to play in the first set,” said Rockets’ coach Kristy Kerstner. “I don’t think the girls were impressed with their performance, but they turned it around very well.

“Munising has a lot of strong hitters, although we got a hand on some of their hits and slowed them down a little. The girls came back and fought hard.”

Rapid River’s Emily Thibault recorded six kills. Jenna Rubick had 13 assists. Kristin Goodacre had 16 digs and Cassidy Berg added eight.

“Ellie Moberg did a pretty good job serving,” said Kerstner. “She hit some critical serves.”

Rapid River, which also dropped the jayvee match in three sets, hosts North Central Thursday.
