Black Bears soccer blanks Hannahville
GARDEN CORNERS — Alex LaLonde hit five goals Tuesday, leading the Big Bay de Noc Black Bears to an 8-0 soccer victory over the Hannahville Soaring Eagles.
Eighth-grader Cameron Miller scored twice and Marcos Hider added a goal for Big Bay, which led 3-0 at halftime.
“We played a real strong defense tonight,” said Big Bay coach Jeff LeFevre. “We’re re-developing what we’re doing on the field. Cameron is developing into a real good soccer player for an eighth-grader. Our defensive line and midfield did awesome tonight. We pretty much kept them outside the whole night. Meagan Yonker and Rylie Lawrence were incredible in that line. Hannahville has a young and developing team and I thought they did very well tonight.
Only, it was hard for them to get to the other side of the field.”
Big Bay (2-0) hosts Mackinac Island Friday and Saturday. Hannahville (0-3) hosts Beaver Island in a pair of matches this weekend.
