Stephenson sweeps Cougar spikers

STEPHENSON — The Superior Central Cougars ran into a tough opponent Tuesday night, dropping a 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-11) volleyball decision to the Stephenson Eagles.

Superior Central’s Addie Rondeau collected five kills and two blocks. Sydney Emard also had five kills. Samantha Thompson added four kills and three blocks and Jaelynn Klyk had 22 assists.

“They were tough,” said Cougars’ coach Kris Bray. “The scores looked like they blew us out, yet it wasn’t like it was that easy for them. We had some long volleys. Only, they would get the point. We didn’t keep our serve long enough and made some silly mistakes that gave them easy points. We didn’t play horrible, but have a lot of room for improvement.”

The Cougars, who dropped the jayvee match in two sets. host Forest Park Sept. 6.

The summary:

Superior Central — Emard (five points, two aces, five kills, seven digs); Rondeau (five kills, two blocks, three assists, six digs); S. Thompson (four kills, three blocks, two assists); Klyk (one assist, 22 digs).
