EBEN — The Bark River softball team is getting hot at the right time of the season.

The Broncos swept Superior Central 10-0 and 8-7 Tuesday for their fifth win in the last six games.

“We are trying to find our groove before districts,” Broncos’ coach Jen Goodrich said. “We only have four games left before districts. It was important for us to get our record above .500 and to stay above .500.

“It’s about building momentum for the end of the year. Especially being a young team, we need to build confidence in these girls.”

BR-H broke open the five-inning opener with a seven-run third inning and received a one-hitter from pitcher Eden Oswald, who struck out nine and walked two. Sam Thompson had the lone hit for the Cougars.

Freshman Alexis Berg hit a three-run homer and Faith Jorasz produced two triples, a double and two RBIs.

Thompson allowed 11 hits, struck out six and walked four.

In Game 2, Riley Arndt recorded an inside-the-park homer, triple and double and Bonnie Cortinas had two hits, including a double.

Freshman Esther Oswald pitched the first five innings with a nine-hitter, one strikeout one walk. Eden Oswald pitched the last two innings and allowed three hits, with three strikeouts and one walk.

Goodrich said Cougars’ third baseman Jada Johnson had a strong game defensively on the corner.

Leading hitters for Superior Central were Addie Rondeau with three hits and Charlotte Himes and Johnson with two hits apiece. Stella Charlebois’ RBI double in the sixth pulled the Cougars within 8-7.

Thompson allowed nine hits with no strikeouts and three walks.

BR-H (10-8) visits Norway Monday for a doubleheader.
