Braves edge Esky at invite

ESCANABA — Carney-Nadeau senior Hunter Eichhorn fired a sizzling 67 through 18 holes Thursday, earning medalist honors in the Escanaba Invitational golf meet.

Gladstone’s Bryce Douglas was boys’ runner-up at 71. Esky’s John Kositzky placed third with 78. Gladstone’s Rudy Peterson, Esky’s Nathan Rousseu and Marquette’s Tyler Bergwall tied for fourth at 81.

The Braves also edged Esky 324-326 for top team honors. Third-place Marquette finished with 342 strokes.

Esky’s girls won with 420, followed by Gladstone 462 and Kingsford 468.

The Eskymos grabbed the top three individual places with Megan Dagenais shooting 87, followed by Paxton Johnson 94 and Sam Henderson 101. Kingsford’s Haley Gabriel 103 and Marquette’s Ellie Hicks and Janae Peterson 110.

Esky is scheduled to host another invitational Thursday.
