Big billionaire tax break

EDITOR: The Preamble to the Constitution lays out the basic goals of our democracy. Prominent among them is "promote(ing) the general welfare, and securing the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity." Nowhere does the Constitution mention any circumstances under which it would be appropriate to sacrifice this foundational goal in order to make the rich richer or the powerful more powerful. EDITOR: The recent uproar over Michigan’s high electricity rates deserves real scrutiny, but not just of DTE or Consumers Energy. What’s driving our bills through the roof isn’t executive pay or lobbying. It’s a radical, top-down energy agenda being pushed by Lansing politicians and rubber-stamped by bureaucrats. EDITOR: Well, that stupid and unnecessary project is in at Ludington Park. I can’t bring myself to call it a “nature trail”, which is what I believe Enhance Escanaba is calling it. EDITOR: In a recent article on MLIVE, it was stated the Michigan’s residential power rates are among the highest in the Midwest. Here is what they didn’t telling you. In 2024, the CEO of DTE made over 11.5 million dollars in compensation. The Vice Chairman made almost 3 million, the CFO made over 3 million and the COO made almost 3 million. Meanwhile, the CEO and COO of Consumers Energy received a compensation of almost 10.5 million dollars each. The population in Michigan in 2024 was just over 10 million people.
