Mask studies

EDITOR:

The website www.justfacts.com has a long but very readable article titled “Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Masks.” The article references dozens of studies from around the world, from before and during the Covid-19 pandemic, with citations and web links. The study cited in Ralph Blasier’s Nov 30th letter is scrutinized closely, to include interesting facts regarding the lead authors “post hoc analysis on a subset of their original data”.

The article cites studies of all types but mostly Randomized Controlled Trials, the gold standard for studies. The accumulated data indicates that Covid-19 spreads predominantly through airborne infected respiratory particles, called aerosols, which are so tiny (1-2 microns) they can stay airborne for hours and easily penetrate even the best surgical or cloth masks.

CDC and WHO spent a year, until May 2021, claiming droplets (spittle) were the main cause of Covid-19 transmission while downplaying aerosol spread despite reams of studies, dating back many years, showing that coronaviruses are spread through the air. Why would they do that?

On March 8th, 2020 Anthony Fauci said….“wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is.” So why is he pushing masks now? What changed his mind, the science?
