Immigration issues
EDITOR:
By comparing the number of Border Patrol contacts with illegal migrants during the current fiscal year (Oct. 2020 thru Sept. 2021) with the numbers from the previous fiscal year, Nino Greens Aug. 9th letter to the Editor, titled “Fact vs Fiction” artfully obscures two facts. This fiscal year includes the last three-plus months of the Trump administration, when contacts were far fewer, and the Biden administration has another two-plus months to pile up record-breaking numbers of contacts before the end of this fiscal year.
Government numbers show, in the first three months of this fiscal year, contacts averaged around 73,000. In June there were almost 189,000 Border Patrol contacts with illegals. According to Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) preliminary data for July indicates roughly 205,000 contacts.
Border Patrol released 61,000 illegals into the U.S. in February, March and April alone. They reported 250,000 known illegal migrants who escaped capture, known as “got-aways”, as of June 13th. H.H.S. placed 59,000 unaccompanied children around the country through June. If all these trends continue we could have half a million more contacts, a couple hundred thousand more illegals released into our country before the fiscal year is out and more got-aways than we’ll ever know. Covid 19, anyone?
If the Biden administration was serious about ending the pandemic they would close the southern border. Instead, they’re paying billions to idle border wall construction, enabling illegal immigration while ordering our military personal to take an experimental injection. Hypocrisy and politics are brothers in arms.
