Don’t meddle with Harbor Tower
EDITOR:
I read with great interest in the Friday’s Daily Press dated Aug., 7 that the Escanaba City Council wants to stick their nose in the operation of Harbor Tower. I quote Mayor Pro Tem Peggy O’Connell “The perception is there and right now it needs- oversight.” Whose perception is it?
My personal experience with Harbor Tower has been wonderful. In the past three years I have been in Harbor Tower at least 100 times where a relative resided. I find Harbor Tower to be well managed and management and staff to be friendly, helpful and professional. the 18 floors of apartments and the remaining areas of the building are clean, well lit, well maintained and safe.
The Escanaba City Council has a full plate of issues to deal with and to want to meddle in the managing of Harbor Tower is positively the wrong decision.
Council members Dubord and Blasier have it right. Let the Escanaba Housing Commission, which is appointed by Escanba’s mayor, do their job. To believe that Harbor Tower should become a city operation once again and be better managed then the current situation is indeed a tall order.
