EDITOR:

I’m a lifelong resident of Delta County and still live on the same acreage where I was born and raised. My dad and mother farmed this land which was homesteaded by my grandpa in the late 1880s until their passing.

This land has been under our ownership for all these years and I would like to see the land remain in our family in future years.

However, each year our property taxes have increased and each year it becomes more difficult to pay them. The last several years have seen constant requests for millages of one kind or another. Now Bay College is asking for an almost 30 percent increase in operating millage for 20 years. All Delta County property owners are expected to comply. Enough is enough! Vote No on Nov. 5.
