We can each stop the hate

EDITOR:

In reference to the letter March 27 “Standing with the kids.” I, too, stand with every kid. I pray that nobody gets killed. But we live in an evil time. So much hatred. Several of you signed onto the letter. Did you all not see the signs held by seventh and eighth graders that said F… Trump!? Did you not hear the hatred spewed by the 17 and 18 year olds claiming that the Republicans want kids to die and the NRA is evil? How about the “hero” to every anti-gun person out there, Mr. Hobbs. Straight out of central casting. He could probably have had the laws changed and run for president. That is until his four-letter litany caught on tape. Then he kind of lost it with the clear backpacks. That was ingenious idea — clear backpacks. Somebody’s going to get rich off of that.

Back to the issue at hand. “You stand with the kids”. And then what? Nobody knows what else to do. Some sheriff’s deputies were afraid. Because of that, 17 people died. They should be relieved of duty. The one teacher did more than the deputy by taking a lethal bullet for one of his students. It was a tragedy. My first letter about this asked what you think we should do. I think we stop the hate. It goes both ways, but there is way too much hatred.

Last weekend, how many people were shot in Chicago? How many died? Of course, that’s just the gangs, right? Last week how many kids overdosed on drugs? Died in a drunken state behind the wheel of a car? I know of about 10 people that have been killed in snowmobile accidents this winter. “We” are not having marches for any of them. Don’t you care? Are “we” or any of you calling for the ban of snowmobiles? Cars? Alcohol? Pain relievers? 28 people died in a Russian plane crash last week. We aren’t calling for a ban on planes. Besides, it was Russians, not, “our kids,” right? Don’t get me started on Planned Parenthood or abortion clinics, I should say.

We live in a deer hunting, bear hunting, bird hunting area. We are not going to stop the guns. But we can each stop the hate. Now there’s a March I’m going to!
