Printing plant crew overcame obstacles

This week’s bouquets go to:

Did you enjoy your paper this week?

Thank the men and women of Powers Printing for that.

Powers Printing — as the name indicates — is located in Powers. It is the printing plant that prints the Daily Press six days a week. It also prints numerous other publications each week, including the Daily Press’ sister paper, The Daily News in Iron Mountain.

THis wasn’t an easy week for the crew out in Powers. We were all impacted by the huge storm that struck the area earlier this week. The Powers crew got a double whammy.

Throughout the week, Powers Printing experienced numerous prolonged power outages. Without power, the presses don’t run. Without the press, there’s no newspaper.

The crew at Powers put out extra effort to make sure all of its publications were printed — including your Daily Press. It wasn’t easy. They worked extra hours, put out extra effort and literally printed between power outages for days.

It was a tremendous effort.

Thank you, Powers Printing. Because of you, our readers didn’t miss an issue.

Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.

We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.

Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they’ve done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.

They may also be sent to us by going to our Web site, www.dailypress.net, and clicking on the submit news button. Once there, click on “Bouquets” and follow the simple instructions.
