Daniel was born June 9, 1957 in Great Lakes, Ill., the son of Leonard Arthur and Marcella Anna (Fallmer) Platt. He lived in a number of places while growing up, moving to Michigan in 1967 where he resided in Ann Arbor and Dexter. He was a 1976 graduate of the Dexter High School.
