Jo Ann Yokeum

Jo Ann was born on September 22, 1946, in Easton, Pennsylvania, to Austin and Helen (Batah) Fenwick. She grew up in New Jersey, where she developed a lifelong love of dirt racetracks and a true passion for stock car racing themes that would joyfully follow her throughout her life.

In 1974, Jo Ann moved to Kiva, Michigan, to be closer to family and to help with the family business, Wheels Truck Stop. On October 21, 1980, she married Thomas Keith Yokeum. Their marriage was one of companionship and shared interests until Thomas preceded her in death on January 6, 2001.

Jo Ann was a faithful member of Grace Church in Gladstone and an active participant in the Rapid River Relic Riders Club, as well as many local car clubs. She loved attending car shows and proudly earned many trophies with her beloved 1973 Plymouth Cuda. Jo Ann was also an avid New England Patriots football fan and a devoted Jeff Gordon NASCAR supporter. Above all, she had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs and cats.

She is survived by her daughter, Jill Fries of Hankins, New York; her grandson, Bradley Fries of Connecticut; her stepson, Ron Kennedy of Green Bay, Wisconsin; her sister, Arlene Fenwick of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Angela Fries; her brother, John Transue; and her longtime partner, Jim Kennedy.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Gladstone. A funeral service celebrating Jo Ann’s life will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jordan Pardee officiating. A luncheon will be served afterward in the fellowship area at Grace Church.
