Phyllis June Carlson

ESCANABA – Phyllis June Carlson of Escanaba, 91, passed away peacefully on the morning of November 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, at Christian Park Healthcare Center, under the care of OSF Hospice.

June was born to Tom and Gertrude (Morey) Judson on April 23, 1934, in Escanaba, and remained a lifelong resident of the area.

June loved her family more than anything. She was a devoted wife and wonderful mother. As a dedicated homemaker, she created a warm and inviting home to raise her family and to watch her grandchildren grow. June was very talented in the kitchen and cooked-up many family favorites, like her chili, French toast, and her famous Thanksgiving veggie “yum-yum.”

As a younger woman, June was quite the roller-skater. She also enjoyed motorcycle and minibike races. She and Ken were always out-and-about, especially spending time in the great outdoors. They loved to ride their four-wheelers, go snowmobiling, take pontoon cruises, and car rides along the FFH-13 backroads. Camping was also a big part of their lives, spending many-a-summer at Pete’s Lake, Camp 7, and Shakey Lakes.

June is survived by her beloved husband of 73 years, Ken; children Karen Carlson and Earl (Kelly) Carlson; grandchildren; Jamie Ruelle, Kim (Jason) Laplant, Jim Ruelle; great grandchildren Austin and Alexis Wills, Gary Ruelle, Abby and Autumn Laplant, and Amayiah Labuwi; sisters-in-law Madeline and Beatrice Judson; and many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and other beloved members of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Amy Jo Johnson; grandson Gage Ruelle-Wills; brothers T. Marshall, Robert, and David Judson; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

Private family visitation and funeral services will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025 at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Escanaba with Rev. Mike Markwell from the Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will take place in the West Ford River Cemetery. The Anderson Funeral Home is assisting the Carlson family with the arrangements and online condolences can be sent to the family at www.andersonfuneralhomes.net.
