Morris Ray Curry

Morris Ray Curry
Morris Ray “Mo” Curry, age 95, of Gladstone passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Mo was born October 16, 1929, in Greensboro, N.C. to Herman and Hazel (Orrell) Curry.
He graduated from Grimsley Senior High School in 1947 and Kings Business College in 1948. He served in the United States Army in Germany from 1951 to 1953. He graduated from North Carolina State University majoring in Chemical Engineering in 1957. After graduation, he began his career with Mead Corporation in Chillicothe, Ohio in 1957, transferred to Escanaba in 1980, and retired in 1991.
Morris “Mo” married the former Anna Mae Schneider in 1967, who preceded him in death in 1989. Mo later married the former Audrey Helen Majestic in 1993, who preceded him in death in 2022. He also had a younger sister, Betty Mae Curry, who preceded him in death.
Mo had a lifelong interest in aviation. In 2009 he received the FAA’s Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for more than fifty (50) years of safe flying. He approached each flight with deep reverence and a calm precision that mirrored the way he lived his life.
He is survived by his son Kenneth Curry of Angelica, WI; daughter Kristina Curry of Scottsdale, AZ; two grandchildren, Anna and Nolan; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. His dog, Cody, never left his side and was a constant source of joy and comfort.
He was a kind man who loved and cared for his family. We will miss his wisdom, his gentleness, and the way his eyes lit up when he talked about his grandchildren, flying, or shared a story from the past.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his dedicated and loving team of caregivers. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Friday, October 24, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at the church with Rev.
