BARK RIVER — Dean Anthony Schoen, 75, of Bark River, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at his home.

He was born on March 9, 1950 in Escanaba, son of William and Marcella (Perket) Schoen. Dean graduated from Holy Name High School, class of 1968 and then continued college at Marquette University.

On July 28, 1978, Dean married the former Eilleen Monicke at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Perronville. He was a wonderful husband and father to their two children.

Dean worked on the family mink ranch for 11 years before doing a short two-year stint as a log truck driver. He then began his 25-year employment with Andex Industries working as a supervisor, retiring in 2011. In his retirement years, Dean quickly looked to stay busy and began working at Sweetgrass Golf Club and then transitioned to guest services at the Island Resort and Casino where he currently was still employed.

In Dean’s younger years he enjoyed down hill skiing, playing tennis, horseback riding, and was the “pit crew” for his son, Stephen’s motor cross. He enjoyed golfing, fixing and maintaining all vehicles, and playing with his dog Harvey.

Among survivors include his wife, Eileen; son, Stephen Schoen of Minnesota; daughter, Kimberly Schoen of Bark River; two sisters, Sister Connie Schoen of Illinois and Mary Schoen of Cincinnati; niece, Karen LaCosse; and nephew, Jeff Steiner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his uncle, Dick Schoen.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 14th from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at noon with Rev. Vinoy Thomas Panthilapadam officiating. At the conclusion of the mass, a meal will be served in the church hall.

Burial will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Perronville.
