Jonas R. St. Germain

ESCANABA — Jonas R. St. Germain, 79, of Escanaba, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

He was born on July 28, 1946 in Drummond Island, Mich., son to Joseph and Harriet (Hartwell) St. Germaine. Jonas graduated from Bark River Harris School and was immediately drafted into the Army. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and began his logging career. Over the years, he worked a variety of other jobs including maintenance at the Island Resort and Casino and was also a realtor, but always returned to his love of the woods and logging.

Jonas loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cutting brush.

Among survivors are his children, Curits St. Germain of Hannahville, Becky St. Germain of Hannahville, Robert (Brenda) St. Germain of Kingsford, and Emily (Nick) Britton of Escanaba; 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; brother, Leo St. Germain; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Terry Germain; and siblings, Ed, Leona, Elizabeth, Virginia Dow, Jane “Jenny Lee”, Ben, Frank, Lena, and Deloris.

Services for Jonas will take place on Monday, August 11 with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. (Eastern Time) at the Hannahville Community Center. Military honors will be at 3 p.m. and then traditional services will immediately follow. Burial will take place in the Hannahville Cemetery.
