Mark Alan Werner

FORD RIVER — Mark Alan Werner, 77, of Ford River, passed away early Monday morning, July 7, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba, surrounded by his family.

Mark was born February 18, 1948, in Milwaukee, the son of Raymond and Margaret (Hoppe) Werner. He was raised in Milwaukee where he also attended school.

On January 30, 1966, Mark enlisted in the United States Army where he served until his honorable discharge in January of 1972. While in service, Mark completed Basic Training, Code of Conduct, Basic Airborne Training and Supply Clerk Training. Following his deployment to Vietnam, Mark received Medals of Commendation which included, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Parachute Badge.

Mark worked for Allen-Bradley Company, L&H Gas Appliance, Harley-Davidson all in Milwaukee, WI, before moving to Ford River to make their home. Mark then worked for the Escan Corporation and Marinette Marine Corporation. Mark then went on to receive his Associate of Applied Science Degree from Bay de Noc Community College and Certificate in Electronic Servicing, where he then taught Industrial Electronics and Electrical Test Equipment classes. He also worked for Advanced TV and Appliance in Escanaba. In his earlier years, Mark enjoyed servicing/repairing appliances and electronics, small engine/automotive repair, carpentry, fishing, hunting and shooting firearms.

Mark is survived by: daughters, Tammy (Virgil) Schlorke and Tracy (Kevin) Frossard: son, Brian Werner; grandchildren, Nicole (Kelly) Helhowski, Nathan (Liesel) Schlorke, and Kylee (Brandon) Owens, Taylor (Stephanie) Frossard, Brianna Werner (Christian Cobos), great-grandchildren, Isabella Berger, Lachlan Owens, Lyla Owens and Aruna Frossard

Jaxon Werner, Oriana Cobos, Alaya Cobos: sister, Constance (Michael) Meunier; nephew, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Meunier, great nieces and nephews, Dominic, Keegan and Raelynn Meunier.

Also among the surviving family are Mark’s cousins and his former wife and mother to his children, Lois (Berube).

Mark’s parents, Raymond and Margaret Werner preceded him in death.

Family will receive friends and additional family members on Saturday July 19 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Military rites will follow visiting hours at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba, with the Rapid River American Legion Walter W. Cole Post #301 along with the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post #71 presiding. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting with arrangements.
