Evan Jay Krueger

ESCANABA — Evan Jay Krueger, 26, died unexpectedly at home November 1, 2024 with his mother by his side. He was born on October 18, 1998, in Escanaba, the son of John Krueger and Christie Carlson.  Evan attended Escanaba Public Schools and graduated high school in 2017.

Evan lived his life unapologetically; he was true to himself and made his mark on all the friends and loved ones he surrounded himself with. He navigated his life with a carefree adventurous spirit, always taking the road less traveled. His daughter Evergreen was born in March of this year, and quickly became the center of his orbit.

Evan was brilliant; from a very young age he developed a passion for herpetology and entomology. If there was a snake, lizard, insect or frog in his vicinity, he soon had it in hand asking to bring it home. As he grew, he spent countless hours studying and creating habitats for the creatures he loved so much. Evan found the solace in animals and nature that he often struggled finding in the world around him. When the road got rough, his Australian shepherd, Frances Bean was a comfort and constant companion.

Evan spent his entire life in the woods and on the water. He loved hunting and fishing with his dad and Papa. Every Mother’s Day he took his mom foraging for morels. His favorite place in the world was the family cabin on Kingston Lake. As an adult, he was happiest sleeping in a hammock under the stars with his best girl, Lulu, bouncing from place to place gobbling up every experience, site, and sound that came his way in the huge world around him.

Evan also had a passion for art and music; he loved exploring new sounds and traveling from one live concert venue to the next or just hanging out for hours with his best friend/ brother Aaron, listening to music and tooling around on his skateboard. Evan loved passing on his love of nature and video games to his younger siblings; he was still a kid at heart trick or treating with little sister Liana the day before he left us.

Evan is survived by his daughter, Evergreen Cole Twarogowski; mother, Christie Carlson; father, John (Sheila) Krueger; siblings, Lauren Carlson, Aaron Anzalone, Parker and Cecilia Krueger, and Liana Malinowski. He is also survived by his grandparents, Donald and Catherine Carlson, Scott Krueger and Barbara (Terry) Meeker; uncles and aunts, Jason (Annette) Krueger, Nichole Adams, and Carrie (James) Flath; the mother of his child, Alexis Twarogowski; and cousins, Griffin, Carrigen and Rowen Flath, Courage and Cadence Krueger, and Isabella Adams.
