James ‘Mike’ Damitz

He was born on January 13, 1949 in Flint, Mich. Mike was raised in Gladstone, Mich., and was a graduate of GHS in 1967. He attended Michigan Technological University. After he graduated, served in the U.S Army from 1972-1976, then completed his education at Northern Michigan University, and was a member of the National Guard until 1982. He and his wife have resided in Las Vegas for the past 22 years.

Mike enjoyed playing high school football, golfing, bowling with his father, and traveling. He was always eager to engage in conversation with a stranger and loved the art of debate in order to challenge one to think of life’s deeper meaning. Anyone who knew Mike was affected by his love, passion for life, wisdom, philosophy, adventurous and youthful spirit, and his ability to see the positive in any situation.

He is proceeded in death by his sister Cynthia (Damitz) Stock, parents James and Violet Damitz and birth mother Barbara Christensen.

Mike is survived by his wife of 23 years Susan, his children with Linda Johnson, Jim (Sharon) Damitz, Jennifer Nelson, Angela (Jasen) Dahn, Amy Jo (Jeffrey) Stanfill, father figure to Darnell Richardson, grandchildren Michael, Taylor, Cody, Lauren, Tina, six great-grandchildren, birth father Frank (Katherine) Price, siblings Steve Price, David (Charlotte) Price, Roy Price, Will (Megan) Price, brother-in-law Victor Stock, special nieces Jessica, Cassie and Regina and close cousin Diane Groh.

A celebration of life will be held in Michigan. Details will be announced at a later date.
