Roger ‘Sarge’ A. Sarnowski

ESCANABA — Roger “Sarge” A. Sarnowski, 70, of Escanaba, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.

He was born on November 16, 1952, in Escanaba, son to Ralph H. and Jean A. (Moras) Sarnowski. Roger was raised in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1974. He was awarded a Combat Action Ribbon.

He shared 43 years of marriage with Jane (Dagenais) Sarnowski and cherished the beautiful family they had together.

Roger was a local businessman for several years, owning and operating Elmer’s Restaurant. Prior to the restaurant, he worked for Jacklin Steel and the Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Co – Empire Mine.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, four wheeling, and playing cards with his buddies. Doing yard work at his home and at Mahskeekee Lake was amongst his favorite activities. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and was a member of the Elks Lodge 354.

Roger loved any time he could spend with his family. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his son, Zachary (Leah) Sarnowski of Appleton and Justin (Sarah) Sarnowski of Bark River; grandchildren, Phoebe Sarnowski, Emeilia Sarnowski, Madeline and Kaydence Bunch, JJ, Jaxtyn, and Joslyn Sarnowski, and Landon and Mason Clark; siblings, Paul (Janelle) Sanowski, Bill (Janet) Sarnowski, Tom (Kat) Sarnowski, John (Mary) Sarnowski, Sue (Ron) Wiseman, and Mary Sarnowski; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
