Garry L. Derusha
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Garry L. Derusha, of Green Bay, Wis., age 62, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 11, 2023 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Peshtigo, Wis.
Garry was born November 7, 1960, in Escanaba, the son of Lawrence “Sonny” and Gerry (Fillion) Derusha. He attended and graduated from Escanaba Area Schools Class of 1979.
Garry was united in marriage to Susan Lancour on August 14, 1982 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Escanaba. Together they had two children, Justin and Sarah. Susan preceded Garry in death on July 8, 2017.
Garry enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1984. He specialized as a Supply Management Craftsman.
When Garry joined the military, they traveled as a family across the states of Florida, Michigan, Alaska, South Dakota, and all together finally returned to Green Bay, Wisconsin.
In later years, Garry and Susan enjoyed numerous trips traveling the country. Disney World was their favorite stop. Garry was also an avid Packer fan and enjoyed NASCAR. In addition he enjoyed going to the Norway races supporting the Iverson brothers.
Garry is survived by a son, Justin (Dee Fenske) Derusha of Green Bay, Wis.; daughter, Sarah (Jeremy) McCoy of Jefferson City, MO; brother, Phil Derusha of Escanaba, Mich.; sister, Debra (Tony) Fudala of Escanaba, Mich.; grandchildren, Brayden, Ava and Colton McCoy of Jefferson City, MO; many nieces and nephews and best friends, Jeff and Kay Winkler.
In addition to his parents, Sonny and Gerry, Garry is preceded in death by his loving wife, Susan Derusha.
Family will receive friends on Friday, July 14, from 10 until 11:45 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Military honors will be presented by the Delta County Veteran Council and the Grand Forks Air Force Base Honor Guard. Mass of Christian Burial will follow visiting hours at noon with Rev. Fr. Fran DeGroot officiating. A luncheon will take place in the parish hall. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Derusha family.
