Robert ‘Bob’ J. Caliguri

GLADSTONE — Robert “Bob” J. Caliguri, age 83, of Gladstone passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

Bob was born January 9, 1938 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the son of Vincent and Anna (Aube) Caliguri. He was united in marriage to Margaret “Joan” McDonald on October 19, 1957 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sault Ste. Marie. He graduated from Loretta High School in Sault Ste. Marie in 1957. In 1975 Joan and Bob moved to Gladstone where he was a longtime member of the All Saints Catholic Church. He spent 30 years with Wagner Transportation and established Caliguri Trucking Inc. in 1982 until closing it down in September 2020. He loved spending time with his family, hunting and going to camp.

Bob is survived by his son. Rob (Annette) Caliguri of Gladstone; his daughter, Mary Jo (Tim) Vanderlinden of Gladstone; eight grandchildren, Shannon (Josh) Jupe, Jessica (Clayton) Castor, Ashley (Jerod) DeLany, Robbie (Julie) Caliguri, Joshua (Megan) Caliguri, Michele (Matt) Wiles, Mark (Angie) Feathers and Kyle (Lauren) Vanderlinden; nineteen great grandchildren, Reece, Kayleigh, Rane, Lahna, Kaycee, Sophia, Karson, Karter, Lauren, Madeline, Caden, Bryton, Addison, Tyler, Brayden, Kamden, Elizabeth, Marek and Larkin; his sister, Camille (Russell) Payment of Sault Ste. Marie, his brother, John Caliguri of Milwaukee, WI, brother-in-law, Charlie Cryderman of Sault Ste. Marie; sister-in-law, Marilyn McDonald of Brimley, Mich, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, his parents, his brother, James Caliguri, great grandson, Keaton James DeLany, sisters-in-law, Ruth Cryderman and Josephine Caliguri and brother-in-law, Donald McDonald.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 p.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. Bob will be laid to rest in the Donaldson Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie.
