DELTA COUNTY — Andrew Hayse has announced his candidacy for Delta County’s 94th District Court judge, entering a now-contested race for the seat.
Hayse currently serves as a domestic relations referee in the 47th Circuit Court in Delta County, where he presides over divorce and child custody cases. He also works as a magistrate for the 94th District Court, sharing responsibilities with other rotating magistrates to set bonds and authorize search warrants.
Steven C. Parks, judge of the 94th District Court, will retire from the bench this fall. The next judge will oversee Drug & Sobriety Court, set bonds, impose sentences and rule on a wide range of cases, according to a news release from Hayse.
A graduate of Wayne State University Law School, Hayse began his career in public service as an assistant prosecuting attorney with the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office.
Throughout his career, Hayes has worked closely with Delta County’s judiciary, the Delta County prosecutor’s office, attorneys across the central Upper Peninsula and various law enforcement agencies.
“I seek to become judge because Delta County is my home,” Hayes said. “I have experience that matters in both criminal and civil law, as a prosecutor and judicial officer, that makes me best suited for this role. Delta County deserves a judge who knows how to do the job efficiently and effectively. I would be honored and humbled to continue to serve the people of Delta County as judge.”
The election for 94th District Court judge will take place on Nov. 3, 2026. Hayse will face Attorney Trenton M. Stupak in the race. More information about Hayse and his campaign is available at www.andrewhayseforjudge.com.
