Ann ‘Annie’ R. LaRose

Ann ‘Annie’ R. LaRose

ESCANABA — Ann “Annie” R. LaRose 72, of Escanaba, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 6, 2021, at Bishop Noa Home.

She was born on September 4, 1948, in Eugene, Ore., the daughter of John and Agnes (Thompson) Christianson. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School.

On September 4, 1969, Ann married David LaRose in Escanaba; he preceded her in death.

One of her first jobs was at the old Bishop Noa Home as a nursing assistant before marrying her husband, David. Later in life she worked at Christian Park in housekeeping and the laundry department. A few years after the passing of her husband, she started working at Mr. Klean and also had several private cleaning jobs as well.

Annie usually had a cup of coffee and cigarette in hand, if she wasn’t cooking, cleaning or bringing her son or daughter somewhere they needed to be when they were younger. She enjoyed art, nature and going to camp.

Camp was one of her favorite places where she loved visiting with family and friends. Annie enjoyed cooking huge meals including fish fries for everyone visiting camp and enjoyed drinking beer. In her younger years, Annie and her husband played penny poker with family and friends and they were known for throwing Halloween parties in the body shop. She was so artistic that her costumes were always interesting.

Survivors include her children, Jim LaRose of Escanaba and Cara (Rick) Nutt of Marinette, Wis.; stepchildren, Sheri LaRose of Illinois and Michael LaRose of Utah; grandchildren, Nick and Jesse LaRose of Gladstone, and Madison Nutt of Marinette, Wis.; siblings, John “Barney” (Jan) Christianson; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; granddaughter, Alyssa Nutt; and sister, Rita Christianson.

Private services will be held at the funeral home with Pastor Lewis Hague officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Masonville Twp. Cemetery in Rapid River.
