Charles A. ‘Chuck’ Parrett

RAPID RIVER — Charles A. “Chuck” Parrett, 75, of Rapid River, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 24, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 17, 1945 in Detroit, Mich., son of Charles E. and Julie E. (Laviolette) Parrett. As a young child, his family moved from Detroit to Rapid River where he has since resided. He graduated from high school from Rapid River in 1964.

Chuck proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He served from August 19, 1964 until his honorable discharge on May 29, 1968.

On November 14, 1996, Chuck married Patsy Roy in Rapid River. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2016.

Chuck worked as a carpenter for Local 1510 which he was a member for 52 years.

He was an avid outdoorsman, Chuck loved hunting, fishing and trapping.

Among survivors include his children, Marla (Thomas) Emery of Willis, Mich., Mike (Sherri) Parrett of Rapid River, Jim (Sandy) McPherson of Rock, Kristin Brace of Gladstone, Jennifer (Chuck) Raspor of Escanaba, Patsy Parrett of Rapid River and Gerald Parrett of Escanaba; grandchildren, Stephanie Tomaszewski, Alison (Alfred) Rising, Patrick Tomaszewski, Tony McPherson, Neikko Turek, Josh Parrett, and Kloe Brace; two brothers, John (Mary) Parrett and Chris (Kammie) Parrett both of Rapid River; and also nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by two daughters, Marcia Lehto and Geri Kaiser, and his first wife and the mother of his children, Barbara Parrett.

Graveside services will be held at the Rapid River Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
