LeRoy Joseph Sexton Sr.

GLADSTONE, Mich. — LeRoy Joseph Sexton Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at his home in Gladstone.

LeRoy was born in Alfred, Mich., the son of Emery and Edna (LaForest) Sexton. He was the second child of 14 children. He was married to Geraldine (Erickson) Sexton of Stonington. LeRoy and Geraldine had five children together. LeRoy was previously married to Jean Sexton (McGillis) and they had three children together.

During LeRoy’s 82 years he has worked as a steelworker, truck driver, and a piecemaker. LeRoy was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at camp, a very special place to him. He also enjoyed working on cars and trucks with his sons and nephew Bryon Johnson. He loved his time spent with all of his children. They have always held a special place in his heart.

In addition to his loving wife of 52 years, Geraldine, LeRoy is survived by: children, Tina Sexton of Escanaba, Mich., Tammy (Todd) Meerstein of Wells, Mich., Linda Berg (Scott Bell) of Marinette, Wis., Tricia (Dan) Robinson of Marquette, Mich., Kurt (Rebecca) Sexton of Waupaca, Wis., Kevin (Rhonda) Sexton of Stanley, N.D., Keith Sexton of Vulcan, Mich.; his siblings, Ruth Whitney of Fond du Lac, Wis., Ruby Harlson of Milwaukee, Wis., Lester (Bonnie) Sexton of Escanaba, Mich., Doris (Lester) LaCarte of Cornell, Mich., Gary (Gayle) Sexton of Gladstone, Mich., Phyllis Whitley of Escanaba, Mich., Glenn (Beverly) Sexton of Flat Rock, Mich., Barbara (Ken) Stokes of Cornell, Mich., Dale (Tracy) Sexton of Gladstone, Mich., Ronald (Wendy) Sexton of Flat Rock, Mich. LeRoy was a devoted grandfather to his 12 grandchildren: Joshua, Crystal, Justin, Darrell, Matthew, Melody, Hannah, Brandon, Monicah, Nicholas, Elli, and Lilli. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

In addition to his parents, LeRoy is preceded in death by: son, LeRoy Sexton Jr.; brother, Roger Sexton; and sisters, Betty Summers and Mary Elaine Young.

He will always be remembered for his devotion to his family. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. ‘Rest In Peace”
