Helen Ann Williams

GLADSTONE — Helen Ann Williams, 96, of Gladstone, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at her home with her loving daughter by her side.

Helen Ann was born April 15, 1923, in Escanaba, the daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn (Bagley) Lewis. Helen Ann was raised in Escanaba, graduating high school in 1941 and was a member of the National Honor Society. After high school, she went on to MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill., as a music major for a year before transferring to the University of Wisconsin, Madison where she went on as an English major. While there, she was also a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1945. Helen Ann then attended the Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in Chicago, Ill., and graduated in 1946.

During her life she worked for the Veterans Administration Regional office in Chicago, Ill., the Wisconsin Conservation Department in Madison, Wis., as an administrative assistant, and at Cedarcraft Fence Co. in Gladstone before settling into GHS as secretary to principal for many years, retiring in 1992. During this time she had also played the organ for several local churches before settling in at First Lutheran Church of Gladstone, where she remained organist until 2005.

In addition to her daughter, Sharon (Jerry) Norman of Gladstone, Helen Ann is survived by grandchildren, Jason (Rebecca) Williams, Jennifer (Larry) Johnson, Jamie (Jesse) Motto, Joel Williams,and Katie Norman, Jerry (Mindi) Norman Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jaelee, Jaeden, Jason Williams, Caylin, Alyrae, Brylee Johnson, Parker, Harmony, Maxton Motto, Christian, Cameryn Williams, Trinity Breault and Sarah Norman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Evelyn (Bagley) Lewis, and sister, Nancy Campulli. ,

The Williams family will receive friends on Dec. 3, Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church of Gladstone, with a memorial service and luncheon for Helen Ann to follow. Pastor Tom Otis will be officiating. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Williams family.
