Charles E. Anys

ESCANABA — Charles E. Anys, 91 of Escanaba, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

Charlie was born on Aug. 8, 1926, in Watersmeet, Mich., son of Leroy and Myrtle (Carter) Anys. He was raised in Watersmeet and graduated from Watersmeet High School in 1947.

He was drafted into the Army in 1945, completed high school and then enlisted into the Air Force for two years. He took multiple flying lessons as well.

On June 18, 1955, Charlie married Sally Richard at St. Agnes Church in Iron River. Together they raised their five children.

He worked for International Harvester/Navistar, retiring in 1988, when he and Sally moved to Ford River and built their own home.

Charlie loved to work around his home completing different projects, bake bread, make maple syrup, planting a garden and canning his goods.

He was a member of St. Anne’s Parish in Escanaba.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Sally, of 63 years; children, Lori (Mike) Hilliard of Glen Ellyn, Ill., Julie (late Mike) Dugo of Naperville, Ill., Rick (Cherie) Anys of Elmhurst, Ill., Lynn (Louis) Selvaggio of Itasca, Ill., and Kim (Ron) Cornell of Plainfield, Ill.; grandpa to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and uncle to several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers and son-in-law, Mike Dugo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne’s Church on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.
