Linda Marie Olsen (Narkooli)

MAPLE CITY, Mich. — Linda Marie Olsen (Narkooli) 60, of Maple City, Mich., passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Jan. 27, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. Linda was born on May 17, 1952, in Escanaba, Mich., to John and Dorothy Narkooli.

Linda met William Nels Olsen while he was driving truck and she was working for the Delta County Road Commission. She married William on July 24, 1976, in Rock, Mich. They lived in Gladstone, Mich., for a few years before moving to William’s hometown Maple City, Mich., where they raised two daughters on the family farm and celebrated 41 years of marriage.

Linda was a self-employed housekeeper and took pride on how she managed the household and put her heart into raising her daughters. Linda had a passion for ceramics when the girls were young and during any holiday you would find the house decorated with her work. She also had a love for nature, making sure no bird or squirrel outside the house was left unfed no matter what time of year it was. When the girls grew up and moved out you could find Linda working in her large garden on the farm where she planted an assortment of vegetables and flowers. There wasn’t a time you would walk into the house and see a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the table. It kept her busy until the grandchildren arrived. Her grandchildren were the light of her life the minute they were born and she did everything she could to show them how much she loved them. Her favorite past time over the last few years was playing Monopoly or UNO afterschool with her grandson Dominic or trying to coax Colin into saying she was his favorite over Grandpa. Linda was a friend to so many and cherished those friendships that she had. She was the friend and neighbor that would drop anything to help anyone.

Linda is survived by her husband, William; daughters, Tracy Olsen, Rachel (Travis) Stein, and two grandchildren, Dominic and Colin Stein; sister, Cathy Nault, and brother Mike Narkooli, along with many nieces and nephews.

Linda is preceded on death by her parents John and Dorothy Narkooli.

Thank you to Munson Hospice, family and friends for everything that they did to care for Linda during her last weeks.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Maple City Lions Club.
