Malcolm W. Swanson

RAPID RIVER, Mich. — Malcolm W. Swanson, 82, of Rapid River, passed away Friday morning, Jan. 12, 2018, at Christian Park Health Care Center.

Malcolm was born Jan. 20, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Gunard and Esther (Bowman) Swanson.

Malcolm served in the United States Air Force. He went on to obtain his master mechanics license and soon after went to work for United Airlines for over 30 years. After retirement, he enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, building and making his home special for he and his wife. He was an avid reader of history. All his life Malcolm was known as a man of many interests and projects. To the end, he continued focusing of new ways to move forward with his dreams. His hugs and handshakes will be missed.

In addition to his loving wife Margie, Malcolm is survived by sons, Eric (Yong Ju), York (Dawn), Daniel, Sean; daughter, Karin; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and sister, Karen Koch.

Malcom was preceded in death by parents, Gunard and Esther Swanson.
