OGEMAW COUNTY, MI: On Jan. 16 at approximately 4:10 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) West Branch Post responded to a traffic crash on I-75 near Greenwood Road in Horton Township.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 37-year-old man from Rock was driving a pickup truck southbound on I-75 Highway. While changing lanes, the vehicle lost control in the slush, left the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Ogemaw County Animal Control removed two dogs from the vehicle and transported them to the Rea Family Animal Shelter.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Ogemaw Fire Department, Ogemaw County EMS, Ogemaw County Animal Control and D&N Towing.
