Labor Day celebration set for Monday in Escanaba

The poster for the fifth-annual Labor Day celebration set for Monday in downtown Escanaba.
ESCANABA – The route will be different but the parade will go on for the fifth-annual Labor Day celebration on Monday in downtown Escanaba.
Due to the construction on Ludington Street to where it meets Lakeshore Drive, the parade will start on Ludington Street and follow the detours on First Avenue South all the way to the Municipal Dock.
Parade lineup will begin at 11 a.m. at The Marketplace on Ludington Street at 15th Street South, with the parade beginning at noon.
The event is hosted by the Escanaba Recreation Department, Downtown Development Authority and the Delta County Trades & Labor Union.
The celebration features live music, with band Grand Design from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Delta Players from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and House Band with Pete Ammel from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
An obstacle course and bounce house will be available from 2 to 6 p.m.
The Labor Day fun will end with a golf ball drop fundraiser at 6 p.m., with a top prize of $3,000 and other amounts for second, third and fourth, plus for farthest away.
The event will also have a beer tent, bloody Mary bar and several food vendors.
Tickets are still available at $25 each and can be purchased at the Escanaba Marina, the Escanaba Civic Center or by contacting 906-280-0067.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Delta County Trades & Labor Charity/Scholarship Fund. Recipients of the fund in the past include Pregnancy Services of Delta County, Escanaba High School and U.P. Foster Closet.
