ESCANABA – A local couple is bringing a free-to-use entertainment activity to the area.

Cris and Ty Lucier-Moore, creators of the Little Free Sled Library, created another free library for theatre folks.

“With the success of the Little Free Sled Library, I wanted to do something that could be used during the spring and summer months.  My fiance and I brained stormed and came up with a Little Free Theater Library,” Cris said.

The theatre will be a puppet show theatre, where families can put on a show using the puppets for free.

“We would build an outdoor theater for puppet shows to be put on by kids or their parents or anyone.  We plan on it being placed at the Bonifas courtyard, and puppets/scripts could be checked out from the Bonifas. We have built the theater and purchased a big tote of puppets,” Cris explained.

Puppets purchased include some famous characters including Mickey Mouse and characters from the show Paw Patrol such as Rubble, Skye, Chase and Marshall.

The theatre built by Cris and Ty resembles a vintage ticket booth, but is actually the perfect stage for the puppets.

It won’t be long until the theatre is open as the finishing touches are being completed.

“We are in the final stages of completion by placing curtains, and printing scripts. We still need the approval of the Bonifas as we have waited for because of the fire,” Cris shared.

Once approved, the theatre will have an opening show with the proceeds going to a local theatre organization.

“As soon as it is approved, we plan to have a premier with a puppet show and concessions sales profits going to Players De Noc for (the) rebuild,” Cris said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
