ESCANABA — Karla Wagner, the founder of Ax My Tax will be conducting a presentation on Elimination of All Property Tax in Michigan. The event is Wednesday, June 18th at Hereford and Hops Steakhouse and Brewpub, 624 Ludington Street, Escanaba. The presentation begins at 6:00 pm with the doors opening at 5:00 pm. The event is hosted by Concerned Citizens of Escanaba.

Ax MI Tax is a ballot initiative to eliminate property taxes in Michigan. Petition signatures are needed.

Our petition proposes an amendment to the Michigan Constitution to eliminate Property Taxes in Michigan, ensuring homeowners and businesses truly own their property without ongoing taxation.

To replace the lost revenue from this amendment, we propose an increase portion of state sales tax be redirected to cities, townships, and villages from 10% to 13.33%, and from 0% to 6.67% for counties.

But that’s not all. To fully ensure that local schools, local infrastructure, & local services stay funded, we will also shift 10% of state income, marihuana, alcohol, and tobacco tax revenues to local governments.

Finally, we will require 60% voter approval for local tax increases and a 2/3 vote of the Legislature for tax increases greater than 0.1% over 5 years.
