WELLS TOWNSHIP — A 36-year-old woman was pronounced dead after a water rescue attempt in Marquette County.

Thursday, around 7:45 p.m., deputies from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Boney Falls Campground in Marquette County’s Wells Township for a water rescue. According to the report, there were three children and one adult in the water in distress. While deputies were on their way to the scene, they were informed that the three children were safely brought to shore. It was reported that a 36-year-old woman was pulled from water but was unresponsive.

Deputies and medical personnel arrived and performed life saving measures, but the woman would later be pronounced dead. The name of the woman is not being released at this time.
