Good Friday Services

Ilsa Minor | Daily Press Rev. Dave Wichert, of Escanaba’s First United Methodist Church, Central United Methodist Church, and the Bark River United Methodist Church, presides over a joint Good Friday service at First UMC. The causal service followed the Via Dolorosa, known in English as the “Sorrowful Way” and practiced by other branches of Christianity as the Stations of the Cross. While there were no physical stations, the faithful present Friday jointly made their way through the story of Jesus’ arrest and crucifixion, from his solitary prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane to his body being laid in the tomb, by reading gospel verses, reflecting on each part of the Passion story, and praying.
