ESCANABA TOWNSHIP — One person has died after the vehicle they were traveling in struck a utility pole in Escanaba Township Wednesday.

Delta County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the single-vehicle accident on County Road 420 near O Lane Wednesday. The vehicle was eastbound on County Road 420 when it lost control, left the roadway and struck the utility pole.

A male passenger in the vehicle was killed as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the vehicle, also a male, was treated for injuries and released.

The accident remains under investigation. The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Escanaba Township Fire Department, Rampart EMS and Bay de Noc Towing.
