Delta County adds 42 new COVID19 cases

ESCANABA — Local data Wednesday showed Delta County has had 42 new confirmed COVID-19 positives since Monday, while Menominee County added 22 cases.

Menominee County also had 19 probable cases and Delta County 14 probables in the past two days, according to Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website.

The PHDM on Wednesday had Delta County at 5,423 confirmed positives, 1,238 probable cases and 123 deaths to date. Menominee County has had 2,874 confirmed positives, 1,024 probables and 57 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

At the state level, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday indicated 458 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Monday: 78 in Marquette County, 72 in Houghton County, 57 in Delta County, 55 in Dickinson County, 44 in Gogebic County, 24 in Iron County, 23 in Chippewa and Schoolcraft counties, 21 in Menominee County, 20 in Mackinac County, 15 in Baraga County, 10 in Luce County, six in Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties and four in Alger County. The state added a virus-related death in Delta, Schoolcraft, Dickinson, Iron, Keweenaw, Ontonagon and Chippewa counties.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 33,015 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 587 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 324 confirmed cases and 41 probable, and eight confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 413 confirmed cases and 461 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 618 confirmed, 77 probable and 23 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 639 confirmed, 354 probable and four deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 746 confirmed cases and 304 probable, six deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 1,002 confirmed cases and 520 probable, 13 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,199 confirmed cases, 205 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,550 confirmed cases and 177 probable, 54 deaths and 13 probable; Gogebic County, 1,720 confirmed cases and 427 probable, 27 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,892 confirmed cases and 2,624 probable, and 47 deaths, 10 probable; Menominee County, 2,866 confirmed cases, 1,011 probable and 49 deaths, eight probable; Dickinson County, 3,418 confirmed cases and 1,266 probable, 70 deaths and 17 probable; Houghton County, 4,428 confirmed cases, 836 probable, 51 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 5,418 confirmed cases and 1,228 probable, 103 deaths and 20 probable; and Marquette County, 6,782 confirmed cases, 1,494 probable and 84 deaths, five probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS has had 16,530 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Monday, or an average of about 8,265 per day for the two-day period, for a total to date of 1,318,123. The state since Monday has added 358 deaths attributed to the virus — including 160 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 24,090.

The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
