53 new COVID-19 cases in Delta County

ESCANABA — Local data Wednesday showed Delta County has had 53 new confirmed COVID-19 positives since Monday, while Menominee County added 26 cases.

Menominee County also had eight probable cases and Delta County four probables for the two-day period, according to Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website.

The PHDM on Wednesday had Delta County at 5,575 confirmed positives, 1,255 probable cases and 128 deaths. Menominee County has had 2,949 confirmed positives, 1,056 probables and 58 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

At the state level, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday indicated 298 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Monday: 52 in Delta County, 51 in Marquette County, 42 in Houghton County, 27 in Menominee County, 24 in Chippewa County, 22 in Dickinson County, 17 in Schoolcraft County, 12 in Iron County, 11 in Luce and Gogebic counties, eight in Mackinac and Baraga counties, six in Keweenaw County, four in Alger County and three in Ontonagon County. The state recorded two more virus-related deaths in Marquette County and one each in Iron, Houghton, Mackinac, Ontonagon and Gogebic counties.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 33,991 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 607 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 343 confirmed cases and 43 probable, and eight confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 432 confirmed cases and 498 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 629 confirmed, 77 probable and 24 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 656 confirmed, 362 probable and four deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 774 confirmed cases and 340 probable, six deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 1,044 confirmed cases and 543 probable, 16 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,216 confirmed cases, 207 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,592 confirmed cases and 187 probable, 57 deaths and 13 probable; Gogebic County, 1,768 confirmed cases and 426 probable, 28 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,968 confirmed cases and 2,772 probable, and 49 deaths, 11 probable; Menominee County, 2,936 confirmed cases, 1,051 probable and 50 deaths, eight probable; Dickinson County, 3,496 confirmed cases and 1,313 probable, 71 deaths and 17 probable; Houghton County, 4,589 confirmed cases, 843 probable, 52 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 5,558 confirmed cases and 1,251 probable, 107 deaths and 21 probable; and Marquette County, 6,990 confirmed cases, 1,605 probable and 87 deaths, five probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS had 15,385 new confirmed coronavirus positives in Michigan since Monday, or an average of about 7,693 per day for the two-day period, for a total to date of 1,368,541. The state since Monday has added 351 deaths attributed to the virus — including 185 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 24,845.
