ESCANABA — The Escanaba Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will return Tuesday, along with the Black Friday on Tuesday event.

“The Escanaba DDA is proud to announce the in person return of the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. After having to go virtual last year, it is tremendously gratifying to bring this great tradition back to kick off the holiday season in Escanaba,” said Escanaba Downtown Development Authority Executive Director Scott Czasak.

The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. and will feature hot chocolate and cookies for the kids, a visit from Santa Claus, and holiday wreaths will be available for sale on site. The event will also be streamed live on the Escanaba DDA Facebook page for those who can’t be there in person.

“As we emerge from the pandemic, it is vital to show our support to the downtown businesses who have done everything imaginable to weather the storm,” said Czasak. “This holiday shopping season, we are strongly encouraging everyone to spend local and help locally owned businesses which helps our community thrive.”
