Delta County adds 65 new virus cases

ESCANABA — Local data showed 65 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Delta County in the past three days, while Menominee County had 21 more cases.

Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties also added 12 probable coronavirus cases in both counties since Friday.

The PHDM website Monday had Delta County at 4,626 confirmed positives, 1,015 probable cases and 102 deaths to date. Menominee County has had 2,491 confirmed positives, 764 probables and 45 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

At the state level, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday indicated 242 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Friday: 54 in Delta County; 45 in Marquette County; 40 in Houghton County; 18 in Dickinson County; 15 in Gogebic County; 13 in both Menominee and Mackinac counties; 12 in both Chippewa and Baraga counties; nine in Iron County; three each in Alger, Ontonagon and Luce counties; and one each in Schoolcraft and Keweenaw counties.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 26,976 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 501 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Monday had Keweenaw County at 202 confirmed cases and 34 probable, and three confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 319 confirmed cases and 369 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 531 confirmed, 65 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 541 confirmed, 292 probable and three deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 571 confirmed cases and 193 probable, four deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 823 confirmed cases and 410 probable, seven deaths; Baraga County, 939 confirmed cases, 149 probable and 43 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,272 confirmed cases and 115 probable, 45 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,373 confirmed cases and 410 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,503 confirmed cases and 2,132 probable, and 36 deaths, eight probable; Menominee County, 2,479 confirmed cases, 759 probable and 45 deaths, four probable; Dickinson County, 2,998 confirmed cases and 885 probable, 64 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 3,173 confirmed cases, 682 probable, 45 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 4,606 confirmed cases and 1,001 probable, 84 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 5,646 confirmed cases, 1,230 probable and 73 deaths, two probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday had 8,496 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of 2,832 per day for the three days, for a total to date of 1,090,021. The state Monday added 46 deaths attributed to the virus — including 15 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 21,609.
