82 new virus cases in U.P.

Local data Wednesday showed 29 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Delta County and 15 in Menominee County in the past two days.

Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties also had 16 more probable coronavirus cases in Delta County and 14 in Menominee County since Monday.

The PHDM website Wednesday had Delta County at 4,756 confirmed positives, 1,061 probable cases and 106 deaths to date. Menominee County has had 2,560 confirmed positives, 812 probables and 51 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

At the state level, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday indicated 323 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Monday: 82 in Marquette County, 77 in Houghton County, 31 in Delta County, 24 in Dickinson and Baraga counties, 18 in Chippewa County, 12 in Iron County, 11 in Menominee County, 10 in Schoolcraft County, nine in Mackinac County, eight in Keweenaw County, seven in Luce County, six in Gogebic County, three in Alger County and one in Ontonagon County. The state posted two more virus-related deaths in Delta, Marquette, Chippewa and Mackinac counties, along with one new death in Dickinson County.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 28,071 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 523 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 226 confirmed cases and 34 probable, and three confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 345 confirmed cases and 386 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 549 confirmed, 64 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 552 confirmed, 297 probable and four deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 602 confirmed cases and 202 probable, four deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 863 confirmed cases and 431 probable, 10 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,004 confirmed cases, 151 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,310 confirmed cases and 117 probable, 46 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,406 confirmed cases and 410 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,563 confirmed cases and 2,237 probable, and 43 deaths, nine probable; Menominee County, 2,552 confirmed cases, 805 probable and 46 deaths, five probable; Dickinson County, 3,069 confirmed cases and 935 probable, 65 deaths and 17 probable; Houghton County, 3,407 confirmed cases, 707 probable, 45 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 4,749 confirmed cases and 1,053 probable, 87 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 5,874 confirmed cases, 1,304 probable and 77 deaths, two probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Wednesday had 7,867 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Monday, or an average of about 3,933 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 1,120,357. The state Wednesday added 142 deaths attributed to the virus — including 66 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 22,060.
