Explosion in kitchen injures one
ESCANABA — A person was sent to a burn center after being injured while trying to extract THC from marijuana Tuesday.
Escanaba Public Safety was called to 603 Francis Court at 9:15 p.m. after a report of a kitchen fire. Upon arrival, officers found that the resident of the apartment had sustained burns to his face and hands. A neighbor of the tenant entered the apartment and was able to put out the fire. Officers found that the fire was caused by an explosion of butane gas, which was being used to extract the THC from marijuana.
The only occupant injured in this incident was transported to OSF St Francis Hospital for treatment prior to being transferred to a medical burn center.
