Sheriff’s office names victim of fatal crash

CORNELL — The Delta County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a Gladstone man who was killed as the result of injuries in a one-vehicle crash Friday.

Deputies responded to the crash on County Road 426 24th Road shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday. The driver of the vehicle, Jason Brazeau, 40, of Gladstone, had left the roadway and struck a group of trees, trapping him inside the vehicle.

Brazeau was extricated from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life and was airlifted to U.P. Health Systems in Marquette by Guardian Flight. He was later transported to Butterworth Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he died of injuries sustained in the crash.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police-Gladstone Post, Escanaba Public Safety, Cornell Township Fire, Rampart EMS, Guardian Flight and Genes Towing.
