Missing Gladstone man found dead

GLADSTONE — The body of a Gladstone man who was reported missing Tuesday morning has been found.

Alfred George Henning, age 72 of Gladstone, was last seen Monday afternoon walking north on 14th Street near 14th Street and Montana Avenue around 3 p.m. A search for Henning began around 11 a.m. Tuesday and covered both Gladstone and portions of neighboring Escanaba Township.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Henning’s body was discovered along the shoreline in the 2000 block of South Lakeshore Drive in Gladstone. According to Gladstone Public Safety, the incident is still under investigation.

Assisiting Gladstone Public Safety with the search was Delta County Search & Rescue, the Delta County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department, Gladstone Volunteer Fire Department, Rampart EMS, and Guardian Flight Air Medical Services.
