Fire damages apartment building in Escanaba

ESCANABA — A fire that damaged an apartment building in Escanaba Saturday remains under investigation, according to Escanaba Public Safety officers.

Officers were called to 308 S. 10th Street at 3:15 a.m. after a call that the south Escanaba apartment building was on fire. When officers arrived, smoke was coming from the residence.

A resident was alerted of the fire by a smoke alarm. None of the building’s occupants were injured in the blaze.

The upstairs of he structure suffered heavy smoke and water damage. The downstairs also sustained fire, smoke ad water damage.

The blaze remains under investigation.

Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by the Ford River Fire Department, Rampart EMS. DTE. Escanaba Electric Department, Delta County Central Dispatch and the Delta County Sheriff Department.
