Delta County sees 17 new virus cases
ESCANABA — Delta County has had 17 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the past week, while Menominee County had seven new virus cases, local health officials reported Monday.
Delta County also recorded six probable cases and Menominee County three probables since Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties’ last report March 8. Neither county posted a new death attributed to the virus.
As of Monday, Delta County has had 2,701 lab confirmed cases, 496 probable cases and 84 deaths, according to PHDMC. Menominee County had 1,633 confirmed cases, 268 probable and 36 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Monday listed 25 new confirmed cases in the Upper Peninsula since its last update Saturday: eight in Delta County, six in Dickinson and Houghton counties, three in Marquette County and two in Chippewa County.
Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 16,632 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 389 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 118 confirmed cases and 30 probable, and one death and one probable death; Luce County, 132 confirmed cases and 105 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 233 confirmed cases and 34 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 279 confirmed, 157 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 294 confirmed cases and 156 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 366 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 512 confirmed cases, 103 probable and 33 deaths; Chippewa County, 743 confirmed cases and 1,052 probable, and 23 deaths, four probable; Iron County, 867 confirmed cases and 60 probable, 40 confirmed deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 951 confirmed cases and 347 probable, 21 confirmed deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,631 confirmed cases, 267 probable and 36 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,143 confirmed cases and 246 probable, 55 confirmed deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,171 confirmed cases, 532 probable, 31 confirmed deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,701 confirmed cases and 490 probable, 66 confirmed deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,491 confirmed cases, 527 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Monday posted 3,143 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Saturday for a total of 610,580. The state added nine new deaths for the two-day period to reach 15,783.
